Hmmmmm cant load GW anymore
Earlier today, about 3 hours ago while i was playing they live fed a patch into guild wars (big deal, ive experienced this many times before, as most of us have). However, when I restarted the program it downloaded the first patch (I've seemed to notice they always come in pairs), but after that it gets stuck.
It says connecting to arena net and the % stays at 0, rather than climbing to 100. I let it sit for maybe 10 minutes (perhaps less) before closing GW and then restarted the program, acomplishing nothing. I restarted the computer many times but still to no avail. The last thing I could think of was turning off my firewall and when i did the following message appeared:
"connecting to arenanet---->Unable To Install
The installer could not write Guild Wars to the specified directory. Please check that you have administrative access, that you have permission to install programs in the specified directory, and that there is sufficient space available on the drive."
It has now been more than three hours and i still can not load the game. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated thanks
Forgot specs... dont think they apply but rules are rules... im not the most educated when it comes to computers but here goes:
Sony Vaio PC
3000+ processor (dual)
224 INTEGRATED INTELL VIDEO *I KNOW, UPDATING ASAP*
Says 504 mb ram which i assume is 512
No idea the sound card, and cant think of any other specs needed

I would assume it's either their server or your firewall/internet.

You have 512MB RAM. It says 504MB because your integrated video has no memory of its own and is using 8MB of your system memory for your display frame buffer -- it probably grabs more for textures when you start using the 3D modes. As you already know, that is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w.
It sounds to me like something got screwed up during the update or something changed by the update doesn't like something about your configuration. If it were me I would try to uninstall and reinstall Guild Wars. Maybe if it starts the update over again it won't screw up next time.
By the way, are you guys logged into your computer using an account with admin permissions? If you're using a limited account the update could be trying to do something that your account doesn't have permission to do.

Well, I guess you can be sure that this doesn't have anything to do with the update, then. Since you don't have it now and all...
It sounds like you're just having plain old network problems with ANet's servers. I had a problem like that a month or two ago. I kept getting err=7 every few minutes and ended up not being able to play for a few days. I submitted a problem ticket with ANet support on their web site and they responded back that they knew they were having problems in my area and they were working on it. It was fixed the next day. I would submit a ticket to them and see what they say. This sounds like it's their problem.
BTW - I can't ping www.arena.net either. Sometimes routers are configured to ignore ping requests...maybe you just can't ping their main routers...?

Well I fixed it. I had zone alarm installed but I turn it off when im gaming. So before I saw the build update I had minimized gw's to shut off zone alarm. Then I went back to playing. Thats when I saw the update. So I quit the game to get the new build. When I restarted gw's I got stuck at connecting to arenaNet. So today I start Zone alarm up and try to connect to gw's. Zone alarm asked the usual questions when it recognizes a new program. After that it connected and im back to normal.
